In an effort to engage with Kom residents, the property owners have shared the Heritage Report and their architect's preliminary drawings, which are available for all to review at the Kommetjie Library.
The architect's Instagram post of an "fly-by" animated rendering has resulted in many strong opinions, but it is misleading and is only part of the picture. For example, the building is actually one story lower than permitted by code. It is also not realistically depicted in the actual materials, nor is it placed in context with the adjacent existing buildings.
Therefore, KRRA strongly encourages everyone to read that Heritage Report and look at the drawings, to get a better understanding of the proposal, and in order to form a more educated opinion.
The owners sincerely want the building to fit into the Kommetjie vibe and are willing to work with us to adjust the design within reason. KRRA will arrange a meeting with them if enough people are interested.
