Dune Rehab

Updated: Jun 1, 2023

The Coastal Management Branch (CMB), within the City of Cape Town, will be embarking on a dune rehabilitation project on the Kommetjie Dunes between Surf Way and the southern boundary with the Klein Slangkop Estate.

The objective of the project stems from a vision to implement proactive measures to maintain the overall natural state of the Kommetjie dune system.

The main objective will be to remediate “blow outs”, install dune fencing to protect the dunes from pedestrians and to undertake vegetation management (seeding, planting and removal exotic vegetation)

Please join us for an information session on 13 September at 18h30 – 20h30 at the Kommetjie Primary School community hall where the CMB will share the projects objectives, methods and benefit to the coastal dune environment.

Kind Regards
