Join Us for World Cleanup Day

The KRRA invites Kommetjie residents to join us tomorrow 9:00 at the Wireless road carpark for World Cleanup Day (the third Saturday of September), supported by people from around the world.

While every day is a Kom Cleanup Day we invite you to join us for this wonderful opportunity to show solidarity with Cape Town and the rest of the planet.

We will be focusing our efforts on the Bokramspruit river and the beach areas nearby. We have bags donated by Simon Liell Cock and we will be weeding, replanting indigenous plants, picking up litter and generally straightening up the neighbourhood.

World Cleanup Day also affords citizens the opportunity to clean-up in areas not normally associated with cleanups, and moves from traditional beach and coast line cleanups.

See you tomorrow!

The photos shows the recent planting of large aloes at the entrance to Kommetjie, and a recent cleanup in the Bokramspruit river, which this winter has been hit hard by the increased rainfall, with a lot of debris washing down the river.

World Cleanup Day is an annual global social action program aimed at combating the global solid waste problem, including the problem of marine debris. It is coordinated by the global organization Let's Do It! World, the headquarters is located in Tallinn, Estonia. The next World Cleanup Day is 16 September 2023.
