Swan Lodge Good News

Swan Lodge was called the Kommetjie Hotel in the olden days.

In good news for Kom residents, KRRA received a letter from the Oosthuizen family confirming that the insurance claim for Swan Lodge is settled, and demolition is on track.

Dear Patrick,

I am pleased to inform you that, following nearly three years of waiting, our insurer has finally settled the claim for the fire damage to our building. We have since engaged Ross Demolition Company to demolish, in terms of the demolition order, the fire-damaged section of our property up to the wall of the Kommetjie Vet.

Once the demolition is complete, we will be installing palisade fencing around the property, aligning it with the existing fencing on Teubes Road.

This measure will address the current issue of baboons using the building as a night shelter as well as prevent unauthorised access to the property, and will significantly improve the appearance of the property, which has been a considerable eyesore.

I will keep you updated on any further developments. We hope that these actions will alleviate the community's frustration and restore a sense of calm and order to the area.

Looking ahead, one of the options open to us is to sell the remaining buildings and the vacant plot to a developer. This however is still under consideration. Should this be the chosen path forward our goal is to ensure that the new development aligns with zoning regulations and benefits the Kommetjie community.

Thank you for your patience and understanding throughout this process.

Best regards,

Pierre Oosthuizen
